These Amals (spiritual practices) are intended for a person struggling with any form of addiction — whether drugs or otherwise — and who finds it difficult to break free due to persistent cravings. The following Amals helps to remove the desire for what the person is addicted to.
Amal No. 1
Instructions:
1. Using edible ink, write the following on a clean, edible sheet or paper:
بِسْمِ اللهِ الرَّحْمٰنِ الرَّحِيمِ
ي ي ي ي ي ي ي ي ي ي
لَا حَوْلَ وَلَا قُوَّةَ إِلَّا بِاللّٰهِ الْعَلِيِّ الْعَظِيمِ
2. Immerse this written page (the edible taʿwīz) in a 5-litre Bottle of water.
3. The person should drink from this water over 3 days, ensuring the entire 5 litres is finished within that time.
4. After finishing, prepare a new taʿwīz in the same way and immerse it again in another 5 litres of water.
5. Continue this process daily for at least 40 days.

Amal No. 2
Recite the following dhikr 99 times and blow on honey:
لَا حَوْلَ وَلَا قُوَّةَ إِلَّا بِاللّٰهِ الْعَلِيِّ الْعَظِيمِ
Take three teaspoons of this honey daily.
Whenever one feels the craving for their addiction, continue sucking on some of the honey. Inshā’Allāh, one will find relief and strength.
Continue this for 40 days as well.

Additional Benefit: Surah Ar-Rahman
The recitation of Surah Ar-Rahman, or listening to a beautiful recitation of it, is also highly beneficial for this purpose.
Listening to and reciting Surah Ar-Rahman in a soothing voice has been proven to calm the nervous system and bring inner peace and stability.
This should also be done daily, alongside the above A’māls, for best results.
Important Notes to ensure a full recovery
-
The addict and his family are not in a state of denial;
-
They acknowledge the problem and sincerely want help;
-
The addict remains away from negative influences, such as bad company or harmful environments;
-
The family does not cover up the issue but instead supports the process of healing and change.
